AFTER walking out of the Boys 17-Under division, FCIC Lapu-Lapu decided to pull out all three teams in the 13th Aboitiz Football Cup.
FCIC has teams in the Boys 12, 14 and 17-Under divisions.
The decision was made by team manager Manfred Schuwerk, the former Cebu Football Association (CFA) board member who led his teams walkout during their game against the Abellana National SchoolPomeroy in the Boys 17-Under last Saturday.
The match was tied at 1 when a penalty was called against FCIC-Lapu-Lapu with less than a minute left.
The game last Saturday had a fabricated penalty decision, Schuwerk said in an e-mail to Sun.Star Cebu. The linesman (first signaled) offside and after that, he changed it to a foul and penalty.
Schuwerk added he will report the incident to the Philippine Football Federation because he felt CFA is no longer a credible football organization.
CFA president Richard Montayre said its FCIC-Lapu-Lapus prerogative to pull out of the tournament.
That they pull all their teams out is no problem with us because they are the ones who cannot follow basic rules, Montayre said.
He added they will be forming a fact-finding committee which will investigate the incident so the CFA can come up with a decision.
We will penalize them according to the CFA rules, Montayre said.
On the other hand, ANS head coach Francis Ramirez finally received a copy of the decision banning Johnrey Nieves for one year.
The suspension is for punching an opponent and violent conduct, Ramirez said.
Aside from Nieves, his teammate Joeford Dolino and the University of San Carloss Henry Anthony were also suspended for a year from all CFA-sanctioned events.
We will file an appeal to the CFA board this week. Harsh ra kaayo, to think they are still minors and have a lot of room for improvement. We hope ma reverse ang decision, Ramirez said.
