Iloilo-Korean booters test Azkals today

AFTER finishing a four-goal draw against the Negros Selection team last Monday, the Philippine Football Team-Azkals will play another friendly game against the Korean-reinforced team from the Central Philippine University International Football Team 4 p.m. today at the Panaad Stadium.

Though the earlier match against the Negrenses may not be an indication of the team's real strength, it has given the team the opportunity to execute their possible plays for the actual battle against Mongolia next week.

Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Monico Puentevella earlier stressed that the national team is not yet complete, with the rest of the Azkals yet to arrive on February 6. We will see how strong the team is when they are complete, he said.

The Dr. Eun Hyung Pee-coached CPU-Iloilo team saw action recently in Dumaguete City during the National University Games but failed to capture the championship, despite showing huge potentials.

Leading the CPU squad are team captain Yeul Woo Nam, Seung Gab Bak, Elmar Nathaniel Boblo, Gyung Sik Choi, Seung Gi Choi, Jaypee Coopera, Jae Young Kang, Chan Yang Kim, Da Bin Kim, Han Ed Kim, Seong Jin Kim, Young Seong Kim, Joo Young Lee, Woo Changt Lee, Sung Bo Lim, Kyung Won Min, Beom Ched Park, Yong Jae Pi, Byung Jun Yoon and assistant coach Joseph Gensaya.

The CPU team headed by president Dr. Ted Robles is also set to meet the Bacolod-based sports scribes in a press conference at Bascon Hotel today. (JSG)
