PFF sets Congress

THE Philippine Football Federation will hold an extraordinary congress on July 2 in Manila to review and pass amendments to its charter so it will be patterned after the constitution and by-laws of the International Football Federation, the world governing body for the sport.

"We hope to make changes to the PFF charter so it models the FIFA constitution and by-laws," lawyer and Naga City-Camarines Sur Football Association president Anlu Carpio, the PFF membership committee chair, said after the PFF board met in Davao City over the weekend.

All 33 PFF member associations will decide on the charter changes in the meeting set on the eve of the World Cup first-round second leg match between the Philippines and Lanka at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Carpio said among the provisions to be discussed is expanded membership to include clubs, players and referees, which is also part of the FIFAs constitution and by-laws.

Carpio added the amendments need the approval of majority of the 13-man PFF board and the approval of two-thirds of the associations membership.
