Just back from the game and UMass handled the Hens 17-7. The score does not indicate how much we controlled the game.
The defense shined as they kept last week's intensity and had a lot more to show for it. We held Delaware to 10 first downs and only three in the second half. After their first drive of the game they did nothing. Jeromy Miles jumped a Hen pass rout and sealed the game with a 52 yard TD interception. Josh Jennings had a great day with 15 tackles and George Byrd also had a strong day for the linebackers with 9.
The offense moved the ball on the the tough Hens defense all day. We rang up 24 first downs and 459 yards of total offense.
Tony Nelson was the best player on the field with 23 caries for 163 yards and a 7.6 yards/carry average. Korrey Davis looks like the next featured UMass RB as he averaged 5.7 yards/carry.
Liam Coen had a uncharacteristic bad day with three interceptions and he fumbled a snap that helped blunt another drive. The Hen secondary dropped at least one other interception.
All in all, a very satisfying win against the Hens.
