MANILA, Philippines Guam streaked to its second win by downing the gutsy Philippine side, 2-0, in the AFC Under-16 Women's Championship 2011 Qualifying Round 1 (Group A) Sunday at the University of Makati football field.
After yielding two goals in the first half, the Filipinos intensified their attack in the final half in the hope of turning the game around but to no avail.
Guams victory was a huge follow-up to its 4-0 win over Timor Leste in the opening day last Friday which was witnessed by hundreds of spectators.
Still, it was Vietnam which made the biggest ripple in the 9-day tournament organized by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), by dumping Singapore, 9-0, also last Friday.
Fast emerging as the regional power in the sport, the Vietnamese rattled the Singaporeans with their crisp and accurate passing to score easy goals.
The Filipinos hope to notch their first win today when they collide against Timor Leste at 9 a.m. also at the same venue.
They will face Vietnam on Friday and Singapore on Sunday.
