THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) stamped its class anew when it captured three crowns in the 7th Del Monte Football Cup held Friday and Saturday at the Camp Phillips grounds in Bukidnon.
The AdDU booters topped the girls 13-under, girls 17-under and the Ladies Open categories to underscore their dominance in the annual event organized y the Del Monte Football Club in cooperation with the Bukidnon Football Association.
The Ateneo girls won the 13-under crow over Sakya and Black Knights after posting two wins and two draws in a double round robin format. Sakya placed second and the Black Knights finished third in the three-team field.
Ateneo's Patricia Francisco earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the category while Kyra Gabinete was named best goalkeeper.
Aside from Francisco and Gabinete, the team is also composed of Mica Isabel Corrales, Angela Bea Dongon, Bea Felice Panganiban, Kyra Noelle Paronda, Joana Marie Adao, Rizalene Francisco, Inah Rosales, Thea Pilay, Drew Datumanong and Theres Reyes.
The triumphant Ateneo girls will proceed to Bacolod City for the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Girls U14 National Selections Tournament to be staged from April 11 to 16 at the Panaad Stadium.
The Bacolod tournament will serve as the team's tune-up games before heading to Singapore for the ANZA Football Cup from May 19-21.
