USC-TC beats Crazy Horse, 2-1

THE University of San Carlos Technological Center ended the unbeaten run of Crazy Horse, 2-1, in the Mens Open of the 2nd Mandaue Football League at the San Roque Parish field yesterday.

Crazy Horse, one of the top clubs in Cebu, dropped to 2-1 for second place, while the idle Erco leads the standings with two wins. USC is third with one win, while Arsenal (0-1) and San Roque Royal United (0-2) round up the bottom two spots.

Yesterday, USC-TC clearly had the advantage in conditioning as they dominated ball possession in the first half. Pomploso Atillo could have opened the scoring in the 20th but missed from right flank before Jason Paglinawan finally broke through in the 24th for the first goal.

In the second half, Bernard Rotich picked up playing coach Jun Fegideros header in the 69th to make it 2-0 before Ariel Cahilig scored one for Crazy Horse in the 85th, using his speed to beat his defender.

On the other hand, Paref-Springdale showed no mercy against an overmatched St. Joseph School, 15-0, for its second win in the Players 14 division.

Ian Miranda had a hat trick in the first eight minutes to finish with four goals, while Little Azkals member Enzo Ceniza, got three and Ivan Caballero connected for two goals.

Springdale coach Mario Ceniza said his players clearly had the advantage in size and skills, while some of the St. Joseph School members had to play an earlier match in the Under 12 division.

Curiously, after having the advantage in the 2nd Mandaue Football League, Cenizas team will be at a disadvantage in its next event, the Milo Little Olympics, which kicks off this Friday.

Ceniza said he will have to field six of his Boys 14 players in the Boys 17 division for the Milo Little Olympics because of manpower shortage.

Eight of my players will be leaving for the World Youth Day this week and we cant train that much because this week is also their exam week, said Ceniza.

In the other Boys 14 results of the Mandaue Football League, Pomeroy Veloso and Jeremiah Bernaldez powered Ateneo de Cebu-Sacred Heart School to a 4-0 win over San Roque Football Club, while Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy escaped with a 2-1 win over Mandaue Technical Institute.

In the Players 10 division, Louis Colina led San Roque FC to a 1-0 win over Springdale, while CAnduman banked on the hat trick of Caetanya Arcipe and Julbert Arias to  beat SRFC B, 8-0. Ateneo De Cebu also banked on the two goals of Ethan Deller to beat Consolacion, 4-0.

In the Boys 17, ANS-Pomeroy got its third win, 3-0, over FCIC, with Rogelio Castillon scoring a hat trick. Pomeroy leads Group B with a perfect 3-0 record, while FCIC dropped to 0-3.
