This week's FCS/I-AA games on TV are listed here . The 1:00 pm UNH @ Army game on ESPN Classic and 3:45 pm pm Richmond @ Virginia on ESPNU (both available on Dish Network and Direct TV) would be good VCR material for UMass fans.

Rhode Island lost Senior FB Joe Casey (who was a first team preseason All-American) for the season with a compound leg fracture.

The new clock rules for 2008 were intended to speed up games. That has worked; it also has reduced the number of plays in an average I-A game by almost nine per game.

In yesterday's blog post we mentioned how well UMass LB Antony Rouzier played in opening game against Albany. Right on cue, Matty Vautour has an article about him here .

Tony Nelson won the weekly New England Gold Helmet Award from the New England College Football writers for his efforts against Albany.

It's still supposed to rain for Saturday's game against Holy Cross .

UPDATE: Expected starting QB for Hofstra, Bryan Savage has a disc problem and will be lost for the season. This article was brought to my attention by Alan Koepplin, who still keeps an eye on UMass Football. Thanks Alan!
