THE UNIVERSITY of Southern Philippines (USPF) Alumni notched its second win in the Men's Cup of the 13th Aboitiz Football Cup last Sunday at the Aboitiz Sportsfield, North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
USPF Alumni showed its determination to rule the Men's Cup category by routing the DBUFC 2, 9-2.
DBUFC 2 scored the first goal at the opening minute of the ballgame. But USPF bounced back after that.
Rodney Gandionco powered the USPF Alumni with five goals in the 22nd, 36th, 46th, 75th and 78th minute of the match.
Other players who helped USPF Alumni's cause were Rene Menchavez, who found the back of the net at the 44th minute, Benjamin Sanchez, who scored his goal at the 58th minute, Eduard Adlawan, who contributed a goal at the 73rd minute, and Archie Villa, who drove home his goal at the 87th minute.
The Men's Cup will continue on Oct. 24 as teams in the 38-Above category take over the pitch.
Meanwhile, it was Blessed John which prevailed over the Don Bosco (DB) Boys Home, 3-1, in the Boys 14 category and not the other way around as earlier reported. /CORRESPONDENTS MARS G. ALISON
