PFF to evaluate FAs membership

Cebu Daily News

THE PHILIPPINE Football Association (PFF) is set to evaluate the membership of all its member football associations (FAs) and those found not to be legitimate will be put on probationary status.

This is in line with PFFs thrust to straighten its administrative affairs.

One of the prerequisites for an FA to be considered legitimate is to organize various tournaments annually.

At present, the PFF has 33 member FAs with the Leyte Football Association headed by Dan Palami as its newest member.

Aside from being the Azkals (Philippine national seniors mens team) team manager, Palami was also appointed to manage the RP U23 team that will be seeing action in the Southeast Asian Games in November in Indonesia.

The PFF will also be adopting the identification (ID) system, which was started by the Cebu Football Association (CFA) headed by Richard Montayre.

Among the purposes of the national ID system is to prevent age cheating during tournaments and piracy of players.

During national competitions, all players are required to present their IDs which will be checked basing on the PFF database. Should a discrepancy be detected such as in the age of the player, the FA to which the player belongs will be penalized.

A player would only be allowed to play for a club registered under its respective FA or for his birth of place.

If another FA would like to get a player, the FA would have to ask for release papers from the players club and endorsement of the FA to which the club belong.

The PFF will also come up with a logo to be designed by the CFA. This logo will be printed on all IDs.

The PFF has also decreed that all local competitions should be sanctioned by its respective FA and competitions involving other FAs will be sanctioned by the PFF to be coursed through the local FA where the tournament will be held.

Should an FA also want to invite a referee from another FA, the referee must be endorsed by his respective FA. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
