Some Azkals wont play match vs Mongolia

WHILE the Philippine Football Team-Azkals are in their though training in Baguio for the upcoming 2012 AFC-Challenge Cup second leg against Mongolia on March 15, 2011 at National Stadium in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, reports came out that several Azkals will not be playing in this match.

Azkals team media officer Jogie Ronda told Sun.Star-Bacolod on Monday that among those who will not be seeing action are the brothers Chris and Simon Greatwich and ace goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

These players will not be available on this date because of their prior engagements, Ronda said.

However, Ronda stressed that second goalkeeper Edward Sacapao will be tasked to take Etheridges responsibility while 16-year-old Christopher Camcam will serve as his substitute.

On the other hand, former national head coach and current West Negros University (WNU) mentor Norman Nonoy Fegidero stressed that, in the absence of Etheridge, Sacapao is fit to start as goalkeeper.

Edward is okay to replace Neil but only against Mongolia. However, after that, they need Neil in the Group Stage, Fegidero explained.

Sacapao is a native of Bago City and used to play with WNU in his college days.

On the other hand, the Azkals only need to score a tie or, if unfortunate, loss by one point in their second match against Mongolia to advance in the Group Stage of the Asian confederation Cup with Bangladesh, Palestine and Myanmar. (JSG)
