PHILIPPINE Air Force and national team members Emilio Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta will grace the opening of the first Bro National Football Festival from April 20 to 22 at the Aboitiz Football field.
The pair will be arriving this afternoon and will proceed immediately to Don Bosco Technical Center for a meet-and-greet with the students and supporters.
A total of 201 teams will assemble in the opening day tomorrow.
The mens open received a huge response with 44 teams that will be divided into eight brackets. It will start on Friday along with the Boys 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 divisions and Girls 15-Under categories.
Initially, the mens open would have been played in the final day together with Boys 16, Boys 18, Ladies Open, Executive 40 and Inter BPO but they were forced to start on Friday to accommodate these teams.
The tournament also attracted teams from Moalboal, Tacloban, Victorias, San Carlos, Bukidnon, Dumaguete, Cagayan de Oro and National Capital Region.
A team from NCR, the Blue Guard FC, a group of former national team members, will also be competing in the Executives 40 division.
Organizers decided to accept more teams and do away with what used to be a cap of 20 teams per category.
Ang among plan unta ato kay sa mens open ra mo expand but naa man sad uban na nihangyo na pati na lang pud ang uban categories i-expand ang entries. Mao na gi skedyulan na lang namo, said Engr. Rodney Orale, who is one of the organizers.
