Davao girl booters win U13 title

THE Davao Football Association (FA) emerged champion in the just- concluded Philippine U13 Girls Selection Tournament at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Bacolod City Sunday.
The Dabawenyas, although suffering a 2-3 loss to San Carlos University (SCU) in their final game, finished with three wins, zero draw and one loss record to keep the top spot of the team standings.
SCU settled for the runner-up honors while Dumaguete City wounded up third.
Davao earlier swept the games against Bacolod City, Dumaguete City, and 2011 champion Rizal Football Association (RIFA) Manila.
Moira Calizo, Zuleika Yee, Patricia Francisco, Joannah Adao, Joyce Semacio, Therese Reyes, Michaela Co, Sofia Paredes, Elizabeth Santos, Kyra Gabinete and Bea De Luna were selected as part of the 33-man training pool for the Philippine U13 girls football team.
Head coach Reynalyn Ravanes, in text messages to Sun.Star Davao, said she is proud of her players' performance seeing their passion to win their games.
She also said Calizo and Yee stand a strong chance to land slots in the national team since they were consistent all throughout the tournament.
"They just have to do their best in the training pool to really make it into the national squad. They should also show good attitude towards their coaches, trainers and teammates," Ravanes said.
Only 22 players from the 33 trainees will represent the the country to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U13 Girls Festival of Football in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in June.
The DFA U13 girl booters was also bannered by Sonia Paredes, Drew Datumanong, Jade Carasig, Arwen Allado, Felice Tuazon, Kim Villacencio, Kyra Paroda with assitant coaches Analou Ingles and Mica Corrales.
